The Vision Behind It

Our Founder & CEO

Mate Nation was founded by Arunav Khanra (AVIK), a multi-genre producer and label manager, and is led by CEO Malith Jayasinghe, a Canadian music executive and entrepreneur building fair, transparent systems for independent artists.

Mate Nation exists because artists need a home where the industry rules work for them, not against them. Arunav builds the creative side — finding talent and guiding development — while Malith builds the systems that let artists keep control of their work and understand every dollar that moves through their careers.

When asked how he got into the industry, Malith didn’t sugarcoat it: he had to figure things out on his own because he wanted to understand how the whole machine works — distribution, rights, royalties and all the moving parts. He doesn’t just talk about it — he’s out to build music companies that actually make sense for artists in the long run.

He taught himself distribution models, publishing deals, neighboring rights, mechanical royalties and performance income, then built systems that make royalties, contracts and collections transparent and easy to follow.

How We Build Artists

Mate Nation's structured training programme takes artists from raw talent to professional release-ready performers. Through discovery, hands-on development, studio production, strategic release planning, and long-term career growth support, we invest in every artist at every stage of their journey. This is what separates us from a typical record deal.

Discovery

We find raw talent wherever it lives — social media, open mics, direct submissions. If you've got it, we'll see it.

Development

Trainees enter a structured development program: vocal coaching, songwriting workshops, studio technique, and performance training.

Production

Access to professional studio time, in-house producers, and a network of engineers to shape your sound into something release-ready.

Release

Strategic rollout across all major platforms with marketing support, playlist pitching, and press coverage behind your music.
